This program seeks to provide learning opportunities for those considering a career as a forensics investigator.  Upon completion of this program, graduates will have been exposed to justice principles, basic investigative theory and technique, and a wide range of laboratory science applications commonly applied in the application of forensic principles to crime scene analysis and processing.  Upon completion of this program, graduates will have attained theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will leave them poised to pursue entry-level positions in crime scene investigation.  

Degree Requirements

Criminal Justice-Forensics Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree Requirements 

 

  1. Total of 120 credit hours consisting of the following: 

  2. All Limestone University required Competency and General Education courses (24 hours; 33 including the math, science, and history requirements noted below) 

  3. Elementary Statistics Course to fulfill Competency and General Education requirements as well as major degree requirements and College Algebra as a prerequisite to the required science courses (6 hours) 

  4. United States History II Course to fulfill Competency and General Education requirements as well as major degree requirements (3 hours) 

  1. The required Criminal Justice Major Core Courses* as noted below (34 hours) 

  1. Additional upper Level (300 or 400 level) Criminal Justice Courses (3 hours); CJ405-Underwater Crime Scene Investigations is highly recommended but not required 

  1. Additional elective courses in Business Administration, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work (6 hours) 

  1. Investigative theory and skills courses (6 hours) 

  1. A Financial Forensics course (3 hours) 

  1. Introduction to Computer Science and Cyber security Operations and Investigations (6 hours) 

  1. Introduction to Biology I and II, Genetics, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry, and Principles of Biochemistry (28 hours) 

  1. A forensics oriented Criminal Justice Internship (3 hours)
