Students currently enrolled at another regionally accredited institution who desire to take courses must:

  1. Submit a completed online at www.limestone.edu to the traditional On-Campus or Online Admissions Office.
  2. Submit a transient letter from that institution to the traditional On-Campus or Online Admissions Office indicating that the student is in good standing.

Limestone cannot guarantee another institution will accept its credits. It is recommended that students receive advance permission from their home institutions.

Candidates for admission to Limestone University are evaluated based on ability and achievement. Limestone is limited in the number of students it can accept. Therefore, we make every effort  to admit students, who because of their academic preparation, particular interests, and talents, are qualified to accept the challenges and opportunities of a graduate school program.

Master of Business Administration

For admission to the Limestone MBA Program, a prospective student is required to have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, test scores, sufficient undergraduate GPA, or management background that indicates the ability and aptitude to succeed in a graduate program.

Students will be informed in writing of the graduate committee’s decision on admittance into the program. Students that are provisionally or conditionally admitted into the program will be informed of the conditions to be met for full admission status and the deadlines for meeting each condition.

Acceptance Requirements for the MBA Program:

Full Acceptance

To be considered for full admission into Limestone University's online MBA Program, candidates will need to submit the following:

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts from each regionally accredited college or university attended. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business related field.
  • One letter of recommendation.
  • One of the following requirements are met:
    • Hold a graduate degree from a regionally accredited university with either a bachelor’s or graduate degree in a business related field
    • Hold a bachelor's degree in business from a regionally accredited university, with a minimum 3.25 overall GPA
    • Hold a bachelor's degree in business from a regionally accredited university, with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and 3 years of management experience
    • An acceptable score on either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test is defined as: (200 X Undergraduate GPA) + (GMAT / GMAT Equivalency Score) = 1,000 or (200 X Graduate Work GPA) + (GMAT / GMAT Equivalency Score) = 1,200.

Provisional Acceptance

Provisional acceptance may be given to qualified students who demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years of management experience in their related field. Students seeking provisional acceptance are not required to submit an official GMAT or GRE score. Students that are provisionally accepted into the program will be informed of the conditions to be met for full admission status and the deadlines for meeting each condition.

To be considered for provisional admission into Limestone University's online MBA Program, candidates will need to submit the following:

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts from each regionally accredited college or university attended.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business related field.
  • One letter of recommendation.
  • Proof of at least five (5) years of management related experience or sufficient undergraduate GPA.
  • One of the following requirements are met:
    • 5 or more years of management experience and a GPA of 2.6 -2.99 undergraduate GPA (exceptions can be made based on years since graduation and level of experience)
    • An acceptable score on either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). An acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test is defined as: (200 X Undergraduate GPA) + (GMAT / GMAT Equivalency Score) = 800 or (200 X Graduate Work GPA) + (GMAT / GMAT Equivalency Score) = 950

 

Conditional Acceptance

Conditional acceptance may be given to qualified students who meet the requirements of full or provisional acceptance but did not major in business. Students who did not major in business are required to take the following undergraduate course to fully prepare them for the academic rigor of Limestone’s online MBA program:

BA 500 - Foundations in Business
The purpose of this course is to give non-business majors or those not comfortable in specific business topics a basic understanding of business to ensure success in an MBA program. Depending on each student’s prior academic background, a different number of foundational modules may be required. Grading is on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Credit awarded for this course will not count toward graduation requirements for the MBA program. Once the required modules are completed, the student may begin the MBA program.

Students that are conditionally accepted into the program will be informed of the conditions to be met for full admission status and the deadlines for meeting each condition. Once a candidate has completed the required courses, then he/she will automatically be moved to full or provisional status.

Master of Education in Teacher Leadership

Candidates for admission in the Limestone M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership program are evaluated and accepted based on a thorough review by the admissions committee.  The M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership Admissions Committee will consider all components of the application in its admission decision.

Each applicant must provide the following to be considered for admission into the Master of Education in Teacher Leadership program:

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts from each regionally accredited college or university attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably one related to work experience and one to academic experience (recommendations from family members are not acceptable).
  • Current/Updated resume.
  • A copy of a current teaching license or letter from an employer if not teaching in a public school. 
  • Testing requirements:
    • No GRE or GMAT is required
    • Students whose native language is not English must submit scores from either the IELTS of TOEFLiBT. A score of 6.0 or higher is required for the IELTS. A score of 79 or higher is required for the TOEFLiBT. This requirement may be waived if the student provides evidence of having completed an accredited ESL program or holds a degree from an accredited US college or university.

 

Full Acceptance

To be considered for full admission into Limestone University's online M.Ed. Program, candidates will need to submit the following:

  • Official transcripts
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Resume
  • A copy of a current teaching license or letter from an employer if not teaching in a public school
  • One of the following requirements is met:
    • Hold a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
    • Hold an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum 3.00 overall GPA OR a GRE score at or above the 50th percentile for each category

Conditional Acceptance

Applicants who do not meet the full admission requirements are designated as conditional. Students admitted to the Master of Education in Teacher Leadership on a conditional basis must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA during the first 9 hours of graduate credit. 


 

 


Master of Science in Health Informatics

Candidates for admission to the Limestone Master of Science in Health Informatics Program are evaluated based on ability and achievement.  The Master of Science in Health Informatics Admissions Committee will consider all components of the application in its admission decision.

Each applicant must provide the following to be considered for Full Acceptance into the Master of Science in Health Informatics program:

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts from each regionally accredited college or university attended.
  • Completed prerequisite coursework with a grade of “C” or better in college algebra (or higher) or statistics.
  • One of the following requirements is met:
    • Hold a graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
    • Hold an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum 2.6 overall GPA
  • Current/Updated resume
  • Testing requirements:
    • No GRE or GMAT is required.
    • Students whose native language is not English must submit scores from either IELTS or TOEFL iBT. A score of 6.0 or higher is required for the IELTS. A score of 79 or higher is required for TOEFL iBT. This requirement may be waived if the student provides evidence of having completed an accredited ESL program or holds a degree from an accredited United States college or university.

Applicants who do not meet the full admission requirements are designated as conditional. The purpose of the conditional classification is to provide students an opportunity to compensate for any deficiencies. Students admitted to the Master of Science in Health Informatics on a conditional basis must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA during the first 9 hours of graded graduate credit.


Master of Science in Nursing

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is an attractive, advanced health professional degree that serves to meet the needs of society with a current, evidence-based, and experiential nursing science curriculum with a focus on administration. 

Each applicant must provide the following to be considered for Full Acceptance into the Master of Science in Nursing program:

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts from each regionally accredited college or university attended (3.0 GPA required).
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree required.
  • Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • One letter of recommendation related to work and/or academic experiences (recommendations from family members are not acceptable).
  • Testing requirements:
    • No GRE or GMAT is required.

Applicants who do not meet the full admission requirements may be considered for conditional acceptance. The purpose of the conditional classification is to provide students an opportunity to compensate for any deficiencies. Master of Science in Nursing + Master of Business Administration Dual Degree

Combines the curriculum from both advanced level degrees, the MSN in Nursing Administration and the MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration so that nurses are equipped with unique knowledge and skills to effectively lead healthcare organizations. 

Each applicant must provide the following to be considered for Full Acceptance into the MSN + MBA Dual Degree program:

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts from each regionally accredited college or university attended (3.0 GPA required).
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree required.
  • Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • One letter of recommendation related to work and/or academic experiences (recommendations from family members are not acceptable).
  • Testing requirements:
    • No GRE or GMAT is required.

Applicants who do not meet the full admission requirements may be considered for conditional acceptance. The purpose of the conditional classification is to provide students an opportunity to compensate for any deficiencies. Master of Social Work

The MSW provides the opportunity to serve others beyond the BSW level. All social workers are passionate with regard to social justice. With the MSW degree, social workers can carry that passion to the classroom through teaching, as well as, positions in school social work, the mental health community, and positions with the criminal justice field. Admission is competitive and only applicants with fully completed applications will be reviewed. Candidates must be a SC resident or have ability to complete the field education requirement in SC only. The MSW Admissions Committee will consider all components which include the application in its admission decision. Applications are reviewed on an individual basis for full admission to both Generalist and Specialization programs.

Each applicant must provide the following to be considered for admission into the Master of Social Work program:

  • Official undergraduate and any graduate degree transcripts from each regionally accredited college or university attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably one related to work experience and one to academic experience. Personal/character references from family members, friends, co-workers, and clergy are not admissible. 
  • Current/Updated resume.
  • One-page narrative describing the reason the applicant wants to attend the Limestone University program.
  • Resident of SC or have the ability to complete all field education requirements in SC only.
  • Testing requirements:
    • No GRE or GMAT is required
    • Students whose native language is not English must submit scores from either the IELTS of TOEFLiBT. A score of 6.0 or higher is required for the IELTS. A score of 79 or higher is required for the TOEFLiBT. This requirement may be waived if the student provides evidence of having completed an accredited ESL program or holds a degree from an accredited US college or university.

Full Acceptance

To be considered for full admission into Limestone University's online MSW Generalist or Specialization Program, candidates will need to submit the following:

GENERALIST PROGRAM:

  • Official Transcripts (undergraduate and any graduate) with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Current/Updated Resume
  • One-page narrative

SPECIALIZATION PROGRAM:

  • Official Transcripts – obtained a bachelor’s degree from a regionally and CSWE accredited college or university with either a BA, BS or BSW degree in Social Work with a minimum 3.00 overall GPA
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Current/Updated Resume
  • One-page narrative

All course work for graduate programs must be completed within six calendar years. Students who are members of the National Guard or Reserves and whose coursework has been interrupted by an involuntary service in the armed forces will receive an automatic extension for the period are called to active duty. Credits for any coursework completed outside of the six-year period will not count toward graduation or the student’s grade point average.

Limestone University may credit toward a graduate degree up to 20% of the program from another accredited graduate institution upon approval of the appropriate Program Director and/or Academic Dean. Only courses for which the student received a grade of B or higher may be transferred. Additionally, all transfer credits must meet the same program term limits as graduate credits earned at Limestone University.

While the LU-MSW Program respects the candidate's work and lifetime experiences, these experiences are not counted toward any credit or grade outcomes. Therefore, credit for life experience in accordance with the mandates of the Council on Social Work Education will result in no credit given for life experiences. Students will not receive academic credit for life experience or previous volunteer, service-learning activities or assignments, or work experience in social work. Academic credit will not be granted for life experience or previous work experience, and such experience will not be substituted for any of the courses in the academic, professional foundation, or field education areas.

Limestone University is committed to the recruitment, admission, and retention of highly qualified and diverse graduate students. As such, Limestone University graduate program applicants are admitted on the basis of the probability of their success in completing the requirements for graduation. Satisfaction of minimal admission standards does not, however, guarantee admission, since the number of qualified applicants may exceed the enrollment capacity for that program.

After a student’s completed application and credentials are reviewed by the appropriate graduate program admissions committee, the Director of Graduate Programs electronically informs the applicant of the final University admission decision.

Enrolling students must submit their foreign college transcript through World Education Services, International Education Evaluations, or other accredited services for evaluation.

  1. The TOEFL (IBT minimum score 79) or IELTS (minimum score 6) is required for all applicants whose native language is not English. If a minimum score is not met, students may submit proof of successful completion of an ESL program for review to be taken into consideration. We are unable to waive the cost of any English exams taken by an applicant. 
  1.  If you hold a degree from an accredited United States college or university, you do not need to send language test scores. 
  1. All international students studying in the United States must be enrolled as a full-time student and must follow the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations regarding on online and distance courses. These students are required to take their examinations in the testing center on our campus in Gaffney. International students residing outside the United States are eligible for admission to fully online programs.
