AR105 - The Amazing Art of Disney

Students will be able to comprehend, demonstrate, and articulate the value inherent in an artistic, musical, or dramatic creation through the films, shorts, stills, two-dimensional arts, and installation art (theme parks) created by Walt Disney and the Disney company. This class is interdisciplinary and will consider the role of literature, politics (ex: WWII shorts), and broader pop culture in the creating of media for mass populations. Themes will be considered chronologically, but may address artistic conventions, performance, comparisons of Disney narratives to other sources, psychology and psychoanalysis, and art made for the audience of a given era (art history). Students will be given the opportunity to do research and complete creative projects.
