Application for Financial Aid
To receive state and federal financial aid, all students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA).
Financial need is calculated on an annual academic-year basis. Therefore, each student or prospective student who desires financial assistance must complete the application process for each year of attendance. Applications are available online at www.studentaid.gov. The FAFSA is available beginning October 1 prior to the academic year of attendance (ex. October 1, 2022, for the 2023-2024 academic year). Most students applying for financial aid will need to complete the following form:
Free Application for Federal Student Aid: This form is used as an application for all federal assistance including Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Federal Work-Study, and South Carolina State Tuition Grant. The FAFSA deadline for SC Residents to be considered for the SC Tuition Grant is August 1st.
Applicants are strongly urged to check with local service clubs, churches or employers about scholarships they might offer. These types of scholarships often go unused. Students should regularly check their high school's Guidance Office.
